Preserving Thamiris' LJ and memory
Hi, everyone, and thank you for being here.
The Permanent account sale has officially started.1 acampbell, sealwhiskers, and I recognize that some people may not be keen on the idea of giving more money to LiveJournal right now, but we can't move thamiris' account in its entirety anywhere else. The only way for us to keep it as it is and was, as completely as possible, is to make it Permanent here on LJ.
Permanent accounts cost $150 this time. If you would like to make a monetary contribution on-line for the Permanent account purchase, please click on the image below.2 If you would like to make a monetary contribution via snail mail, please, e-mail tham_preserved[at]yahoo[dot]com to tell us how much you are sending, and we will provide a real address to which you can send it. Even $1 donations will be helpful; we do not want you to feel at all like you need to give more than you can. We do, on the other hand, want everyone who wishes to be able to help somehow. We will update the community, probably on a daily basis, with a tracking meter showing the current status of the fund.
If you are on a limited budget but would still like to contribute, Alison and I thought that perhaps someone(s) could make small donation acknowledgement image buttons for interested donors to place on their journals or Web sites. Other ideas for non-monetary contributions are welcome, too. Also welcome are entries containing your memories of thamiris, fiction and art in her honor, and other such tributes to her.
We've been trying to get the details on how to put extra money toward maintaining Odysseys and Ecstasy but have thus far been unsuccessful. So, you have the option when you make your donation of telling us if you'd prefer that any excess from your contribution, beyond the cost of the Permanent account, either a) be returned to you, in a share of the excess divided equally among donors; b) be donated to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation designated in thamiris' obituary3; c) be held in the fund while we continue our attempts to support O & E; or d) some other route that hasn't occurred to us.
Suggestions and public questions can go in comments to this entry or in a separate entry; all members should have posting access to the community. Private questions can go to the e-mail address above, or to acampbell's or my LJ e-mail addresses.
The sale will only last one week, until 11:59 p.m. P.S.T. on Thursday, June 28th, so, please, give what you can as soon as you can.
1Because only Thamiris, herself, had her log-in information, as far as we know, there is no way for anyone to gift her remaining paid time the way others purchasing Permanent accounts through the sale could do.
2If the image link for donations doesn't work for some reason, you can simply visit PayPal and send money to the Yahoo e-mail address listed above in this entry.
3As of January 5, 2008, I've removed the link that had been included in this entry to Tham's obituary on-line. She wanted her on- and off-line lives kept separate, and we here at the community do not wish to jeopardize that further.
